Just North of Clearwater, Florida, is the small town of Dunedin. A beautiful coastal town with a bit of an Irish flair. A fun little downtown, and really great parks along the waterfront.
Just across the causeway, is Honeymoon Island State Park. Honeymoon Island was one of a few early privately owned Islands in the 1930’s. The owner wanted to create a demand for tourists… so, he created a contest with Life Magazine for newlyweds in 1939, where winners received a two-week honeymoon stay. The Honeymoon theme over time became permanent.
As a natural barrier island with a diverse landscape… on Honeymoon Island you’ll find a four-mile-long sandy beach, nature trails, and abundant wildlife to explore.
In this episode, we experience a breezy and sunny afternoon around mid-day. Hear the waves being blown in with sea gulls riding along the up drafts as the wind hits the dunes. Enjoy!
