— Welcome to this week’s Episode of AudioTrek … Jackson Falls along the Natchez Trace Parkway above the Duck River in Tennessee.
Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444 mile Federal Scenic Highway that goes from Nashville, TN to Natchez MS. Basically, it follows an old wagon trading trail.
So, Jackson Falls are about 60 miles South of Nashville on the Parkway. It had been raining for the previous 14 hours so there was a nice flow of water over the falls. Of all the Falls I’ve hiked to… here was an actual paved path with a sturdy railing carved into the cliff like side of the hill. It was steep, wet, and with the mud along the sides just a little bit slippery. So, while not a long walk down I was kind of doing a short-step shuffle heading down with my gear.
The falls are in a sort of box canyon and the scene and sounds are very relaxing. I’m sure in a couple of months the trees will be covered in leaves which would make the area even more magical. So, enjoy the sounds of these falls and if you’re exploring the Natchez Trace Parkway, be sure to check it out for yourself!
… Relax. Explore. Meditate. Sleep.
