— Welcome to this week’s Episode of AudioTrek … Klein Bonaire Clouds, Bonaire, Leeward Antilles.

Today we are at the Island of Bonaire which is a part of the Dutch ABC Islands (that’s Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao) just off the coast of Venezuela. This trek was an easy one… got off the ship, turned left on the dock and got onto an expedition water taxi.

We headed over to Klein Bonaire or “Little Bonaire”. After a 30-minute trip we were dropped off on the beach. This Island is completely protected and undeveloped, no infrastructure of any kind exists. Consisting of just over 1,500 acres with a max elevation of about 2 meters, the Island is part of the Bonaire National Marine Park.

What’s special here? I did do a beach and waves episode set here, but this is about CLOUDS. It was windy, and the clouds were just beautiful as they moved across the sky. I filmed a few different angles and while the sound of the surf is recognizable, you also get to experience the breeze as it filters thru the low ground plants.

I remember as a kid, in the Summer, laying in the grass and just watching the clouds. Even trying to see what shape I could recognize. So, if you want to transport yourself back to a simpler time, this is for you. Enjoy!
