North Woods Water Mirror

Growing up, my family would take a Summer vacation to the lakes of Northern Wisconsin. We’d rent a cabin, and the resort was owned and run by a large family with kids our age, so we always looked forward to visiting every year.

Spending a week every year, for several years, has imprinted itself in my very being… Sitting around a campfire, listening to the water lap against the hull of the fishing boat, playing pool in the lodge while drinking cream soda out of an ice-cold bottle, even learning to play the guitar are the memories I will never forget.

So, a few weeks ago, I went up to the North Woods and visited my sister and brother-in-law for a few nights. Since we’re on a lake with boat traffic, I got up around sunrise and set up the gear to avoid as much boat traffic as possible. While the sunrise video was so-so, I noticed a fun reflection of a tree on the water right along the shore. Looking back now, it’s kind of like a magic mirror… the water flies, and small ripples with just a few small sets of waves created a unique visual.

So listen to all of the morning birds and a little bit of water bouncing off the shoreline as the day begins…. Enjoy!
