— Welcome to this week’s Episode of AudioTrek … Tom Branch Falls in Deep Creek Campground, Bryson City, North Carolina.

OK, this is a cool place… campgrounds, hiking trails, Deep Creek itself for tubing, and three waterfalls that are relatively easy to hike too. The creek has a pretty good flow and lots of small rapids which make for great tubing… I even saw parents bring down their young children!

The first day I visited, it started to rain, and I didn’t have all of my protective gear with me, but I was able to capture Tom Branch Falls as it fell into Deep Creek. These falls flow down the canyon wall in stages before finally dropping into the creek.

These Falls were just a short, maybe ½ mile up the trail, so, very accessible. Again, another great location about an hour from Asheville to explore… nature here is pretty abundant and the park system really does a great job of making these experiences accessible.

Visit midweek for a relaxing time, weekends can be a bit busy as it’s a great get away for those lucky enough to be driving thru or live with an hour or two. Oh, and if you’re here for a few days there’s this thing called the Smokey Mountain Railroad in Bryson City! (Yep, did a train episode while I was here!)

So, until you have a chance to visit yourself, kick back and enjoy!
